Description

The Menai Holiday Cottages ABERSOCH Triathlon takes place on Saturday 22nd June in the stunning North Wales seaside town of Abersoch. There's Olympic and Sprint distances to choose from, with exceptional courses that will both challenge and inspire you, a reason why this event is many people's favourite.

This event starts with a sea swim, in Abersoch's sheltered bay, the bike route is a 20km lap for the sprint distance and 2 laps of the same course for the Olympic distance, closed off in sections to the traffic. The run takes in the unique terrain of part beach, part trail and part road, with both races boasting that picture-book finish on Abersoch beach.

Great race support throughout the course, all the pro race assets you would expect from a big triathlon event, and a memorable atmosphere with music and beach bar to enhance your post race celebrations.

Event details and schedule

PROVISIONAL START TIMES: All athletes will start together within their race distance category. The Olympic Distance will start first at 8:00am and the Sprint Distance starts second at 2:30pm. NOTE THAT THERE IS MANDATORY REGISTRATION THE DAY BEFORE or ON THE MORNING OF THE RACE.

BRITISH TRIATHLON FEDERATION: UK Race triathlons and duathlons are governed by the British Triathlon Federation. All entrants are required to abide by all applicable British Triathlon rules and regulations.

The relevant rules and regulations can be read in the BTF Rulebook.

BRITISH TRIATHLON FEDERATION MEMBERSHIP FEE: If you are not a current member of Triathlon England, Triathlon Scotland or the Welsh Triathlon Association, you will be liable to pay a £6 day membership fee at registration. Please show your race licence at registration to avoid paying this fee.

WETSUIT RULE: The wearing of wetsuits in triathlon is governed by British Triathlon rules and is totally dependent on water temperature one hour before the start of the event.

We do say that wetsuits in fact help with buoyancy and warmth, so we strongly recommend that you wear one if they are optional. We will keep you updated with water temperature as we get closer to the event.
